Dresses to help teens in need

Houston (KTRK) -- Is your closet and dresser full of unwanted dresses, gowns, wraps and jewelry? Now you can donate them to help teens in need.

Houston Independent School District Board President Wanda Adams is hosting Project Prom Dress Drive this Sunday, March 19 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Gite Gallery.

Attendees are encouraged to drop off unwanted prom or formal dresses, formal jewelry, shoes, handbags and wraps.

Donors will also enjoy a small reception with the founder of This Woman's Work (TWW), Carla Lane. TWW is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping women become employable by providing career guidance, job search assistance and more.

Don't have any items to donate? No problem! Gift cards to places like Walgreen's, CVS and Walmart for use on personal items will also be accepted.

All proceeds from, and donations collected at, the event benefits the HISD Homeless Education Office. The HISD Homeless Education Office offers assistance and support to students and their families who are living in homeless situations or are in transition.
