The fifth in a series of unrelated sitcom pilots shown on consecutive Wednesdays but, following the recent demise of the Comedy Playhouse strand, without a generic title. Here, writer Carla Lane was attempting to find another long-running hit to match her massively successful The Liver Birds, and for the first time she tapped into the theme of strong woman coming to terms with life after the breakdown of a relationship. Jen was the divorcee, looking forward to being single again, but feeling her new-found freedom thwarted by her ex-husband, her son, her home help and her mother. Lane explored similar themes later, especially in Solo and, to a lesser extent, Luv and Screaming.
